After an Interruption, the Job Is Not Where You Left It
A break, weather delay, shift change, emergency alarm or competing task can alter the worksite while attention is elsewhere. Tools may have moved, isolations may have changed and another team may have entered the area. Restart should therefore be treated as a fresh decision: re-establish the shared picture, verify the controls and confirm that everyone is ready.
Controls to confirm
- Pause at the worksite and compare the current condition with the permit, risk assessment and last confirmed job status before anyone resumes activity.
- Reverify isolations, barriers, equipment position, housekeeping and simultaneous work, escalating every mismatch or unexplained change.
- Rebrief the complete work party on the restart point, changed conditions and individual roles, then obtain the required authorisation before proceeding.

At the next restart, ask a team member who was not leading the job to identify one changed condition that must be verified before work continues.
