Temporary hoses are often installed to solve an immediate operating need, but poor routing, incompatible materials, unsecured couplings or an undefined removal date can introduce new loss-of-containment and line-of-fire risks. Treat every temporary connection as engineered equipment with known duty, protected routing and active ownership.
Controls to confirm
- Verify the hose, fittings, pressure rating and material compatibility against the approved service before installation or reuse.
- Route and secure the hose away from sharp edges, hot surfaces, traffic, access ways and positions where coupling movement or failure could strike a person.
- Identify the connection, inspect it at the defined frequency and track its owner, operating limits and removal or formal review date.
